Circle B Bar Reserve is a former ranch now managed as an environmental park by Polk County, Florida. It is located beside Lake Hancock, just south of Lakeland, Florida, about half way between Orlando and Tampa. Most of the reserve is wetlands and marsh, and in winter it abounds in resident and migratory birds. I spent three days in January walking the trails and photographing the birds. CBBR, as the locals know it, is a hidden gem in a state filled with crown jewels of birding hot spots.
